Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Officers state they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then discovered many other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police state preliminary tests suggest the fluid was likely human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its source; authorities are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the community for details.
An important official commented the attack rendered him without words and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine people by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
